Duty and technical sources
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require electrical systems to be maintained to prevent danger so far as reasonably practicable. HSE advises arranging inspection and testing of fixed wiring. The Regulations do not impose a universal five-year EICR interval for commercial premises.

Published price evidence
- Hexo Electrical Testing — London and South East weekday tariff: £169 + VAT for up to ten circuits, then £10 + VAT per additional circuit. Larger premises require a bespoke quote.
- District Group Services — Its 2024/25 commercial schedule lists £50 + VAT per main switch and £19 + VAT per circuit. Historical provider tariff, not a current national quote.
- Dale Montague Electrical — Publishes a £168 minimum, £60 per board and £18 per circuit, excluding VAT. Confirm the date and local applicability.
An EICR starts with the installation boundary
Board and circuit counts set the quote scope. A competent inspector then plans isolation, tests the agreed installation and records findings.
