Duty and technical sources

In England and Wales, Fire Safety Order article 14 requires emergency lighting where an emergency route or exit needs illumination if normal lighting fails. Article 17 requires fire precautions to be maintained where necessary. Home Office guidance describes typical monthly functional and annual full-discharge tests; those frequencies are guidance, not a universal statutory certificate interval.

Published price evidence

  • Dale Montague Electrical — Publishes £160 excluding VAT up to 25 points, then £6 per additional point, for an emergency lighting test; confirm annual full-duration scope and local applicability.
  • Hexo Electrical Testing — Publishes annual three-hour testing from £199 excluding VAT for London and the South East; medium, large and multi-site work needs a bespoke quote.
  • Wire Now — Publishes annual duration testing from £225 plus VAT for its London, Hertfordshire and Essex coverage; this is a starting price, not an upper bound.
